Windows Vista users click here.

Getting Started

Save your data and information in an easy to retrieve database. Modeled after the old Index cards, your information is listed alphabetically. Your data is sorted and retrieved through the Keyword of your choice.

To keep your data secure on a computer used by persons other than you, you can secure

CardFile Pegasus with a password. When this setting is enabled no one can access the data until the correct password is entered. If you lose or forget the password you will also not be able to access your own data. So keep your password in a safe place.

You can also export and import data with PS CardFile Pegasus. If you are using two licensed copies on different machines you can select those records you would like to export to your second copy of PS CardFile Pegasus. This text file is encrypted to make sure your data remains secure and private.

Registering CardFile Pegasus

To register Product you have to go to the Pindersoft web site and then to the CardFile Pegasus page. Click on the link and you will be directed to a secure web site where you can enter your credit card information. You will then be emailed the registration number.

After receiving this number, start PS CardFile Pegasus and then, on the Menu, open ‘Tools/Enter Registration’ Number. When the Registration window opens, enter the Registration number you have been emailed. PS CardFile Pegasus will then inform you if the registration is successful.

If so, your version is fully operational.

CardFile Pegasus

PS CardFile Pegasus can handle and store all your data, from passwords to Internet sites, from CD keys to cook recipes.

The main window allows you easy access to your information. To view or edit a file, double click on it in the grid. The ‘Data-view’ window will then open and you can then make any desired changes.

By clicking on the grid with the right mouse button, a popup menu will appear and you can choose between viewing the data selected in the grid or deleting it.

Database Backup

Backup your database by clicking on the menu ‘Tools/Backup Pegasus database’.

A default name is given, and the target directory is the application path. You can change the directory to one of your choosing. Click OK and CardFile Pegasus will make a copy of your database into the directory you have chosen.

To recover your data, find the database you have backed up. Change the name to pscardfile.mdb. Then copy this database into the directory where PS CardFile Pegasus is located. If there is a database present it will be overwritten without being asked. And make sure the program is not running before you recover your data.

Data Handling

To enter, edit and delete data you use the Data-view window, shown above

The Keyword field is mandatory. You have to enter a Keyword to save any data. Afterwards you can enter text into the Subject and Memo field. In the Memo field you can enter as much text as you like. The Keyword and Subject text fields are restricted to 50 and 75 characters, respectively.

When you want to add new data to PS Cardfile Pegasus, click on the new icon. This is the first icon on the left on the toolbar. And then to save your data click on the Save icon on the toolbar. You can enter as much data as you like by repeating the process. Afterwards, when you want to view your data, click on the tab of your choice. The data edit frame will disappear and a grid listing your data will appear. To delete any data, click on the delete button. Any data to be deleted has to be data that has been saved to the database.

Password

You can keep your data safe from prying eyes by enabling the Password feature.

When PS CardFile Pegasus starts for the first time you do not need a password. However, from the main window you can open this form and set a password of your choosing.

If you save a Password and then decide to ‘Do Not Use Password’, your password is still saved and ready to be activated. All you have to do is click on the ‘Use Password’ option and then the Ok button.

Just make sure you know what it is before re-enabling the ‘Use Password’ setting. Once you are locked out you stay locked out. There is no backdoor into the database.

Export

With Data Transfer – Export, you can export some, or all, of your data to a text file.

When the Export window opens, all the data in the PS CardFile Pegasus database is listed for you to view. Select the data you wish to export by checking the box. Afterwards, click on the ‘Export data to file’ button.

Your data will then be written to a text file in the CardFile Pegasus directory. The data is encrypted to protect your privacy. It can only be decrypted when importing it back into PS CardFile Pegasus.

When you select the ‘Password protect export file’ option, you will be asked to enter a password. And then, when you wish to import this data, you must first enter the password. It is not dependent with any password you may be using to log in to PS CardFile Pegasus with.

The idea behind the Export and Import function is to make it easier for you to transfer data from one computer to the other. Instead of having to enter the same data by hand two or more times, you can make an import file, place it in the PS CardFile Pegasus directory, and import those records into the database.

PS CardFile Pegasus does not check for duplicate records. What you wish to import is imported, as many times as you like.

The ‘Pegasus.txt’ file is the file your data is exported to.

Import

To Import your data, place the Pegasus.txt file in the PS CardFile Pegasus directory. When you click on the ‘Data Transfer – Data Import’ menu, if your data import is successful it will appear as in the picture above.

PS CardFile Pegasus firsts places the data into the grid for you to review. If everything is correct, you can then click on the Save button to save your data to the database. Afterwards you will be asked if you wish to delete your imported file. This is to make sure you do not import it again, or leave it on your disk for prying eyes.

Email & Internet

With PS CardFile Pegasus you can open your default email program or surf the Internet with a click of the mouse or a press of a key through the ‘Data Handling’ window.

When you save an email address into the Keyword or Subject field, you can launch your email program by opening the ‘Data Handling’ window and pressing on the F6 key.

PS CardFile Pegasus firsts look at the Keyword field. If it is a valid Email address, Pegasus will open your email program. If the Keyword is not a valid Email address, it will then look at the Subject field for a valid Email address.

The same routine holds true for the Internet function. You can launch your browser by saving a valid URL in the Keyword or Subject field.

Printing

With PS CardFile Pegasus you can print your data to a text file. First, open the Data Handling window to the data you want to print out. Then click on the Printer icon on the Toolbar. Your data will be saved to a text file named “CardfilePegasus.txt” located in the program’s directory.

From there you can copy and paste it into the text editing program of your choice.
